The Creative Industries Roadshow Team includes a diverse range of Academics who are passionate about envisaging a clear future for regional and remote students.
DR KATHRYN GRUSHKA
Dr Grushka is a senior lecturer in education with an international research profile. She has many years of experience in visual art and design and technology research, curriculum design and teacher professional development.
DR MIRANDA LAWRY
Dr Lawry is an artist and academic who works in practice led research. Her expertise combines photomedia practice in digital imaging and old/new imaging technology intersections with identity and place.
DR SUSAN KERRIGAN
Dr Susan Kerrigan is a Screen Production Scholar who specialises in creative screen practice through practice-led research. Susan is a current recipient of an ARC Linkage Grant entitled ‘Creativity and Cultural Production: An Applied Ethnographic Study of New Entrepreneurial Systems in the Creative Industries’.
MS JANE SHADBOLT
Jane is the director of the short stop motion animation The Cartographer, winner of two awards at the Australian Production Designer Guild Awards, which has screened at numerous international festivals. She has worked as a freelancer on feature and short films.
Jane is a Academic teaching in Design/Visual Communication.
DR MAREE GRUPETTA
Dr. Maree Gruppetta is a Guyinbaraay woman currently working in the Wollotuka Centre at the University of Newcastle in the role of Associate Professor Research and Research Engagement.
MS KRISTI STREET
After graduating from the University of Newcastle. Kristi trained as an actor at BADA(London) performing in London, Edinburgh, New York, Sydney and The Hunter Region. Kristi’s directing credits include award winning short films, documentary programs, multi media performances and television commercials. Recipient of an Australia Council Emerging Artist Grant in directing and City of Newcastle Service Award.
Kristi has extensive experience in Producing in both film and theatre and has worked as a producer for channels Fox 8, W, Main event (FOXTEL) and Aurora TV.
Kristi is the founding director of The Shoot Out 24 Hour Filmmaking Festival 1999-2009, which has operated in Newcastle, Toowomba and Geelong Australia, New Zealand, The Netherlands and Colorado USA. Kristi is currently lecturing at the University of Newcastle in Media Production and working toward her PHD in Filmmaking and Creativity.
Ari is a Designer/Illustrator/Artist, he graduated from Newcastle University with a Bachelor of Fine Art/ Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary), Bachelor of Natural History Illustration (Class 1 Honours). He has just submitted his PhD in Design- Visual Communication at UON.
